Audition Information
Auditioning is the first step in joining one of our productions. Whether you’re brand-new to theater or an experienced performer, we work hard to make the process welcoming, educational, and fun.
Who Can Audition?
MainStage Shows: Open to 2nd–12th grade performers.
Rising Star Program: 1st–4th grade performers, students do not need to audition unless they want a lead or featured role.
What to Expect:
Friendly Environment: Our auditions are designed to help students feel comfortable and confident.
Prepared Material: Students will be asked to perform a short excerpt from a song, monologue, and learn a short dance combination.
Time Commitment: Most auditions take about 5–10 minutes per performer.
Tips for a Great Audition:
Prepare a Short Monologue: A 30–60 second monologue (memorized) that shows your personality and acting ability. You only have to prepare a monologue if you wish to audition for a lead role (speaking / singing solo).
Choose a Song That Fits You: Pick a 16–32 bar selection that highlights your voice and character.
Practice Reading Lines: Be ready for a short cold read with expression and confidence.
Dress to Impress (and Move): Wear something neat and comfortable for singing and light movement.
Arrive Early: Check in, warm up, and take a few minutes to breathe before your turn.
Bring Your Best Self: We want to see your personality shine!
Do I Need Experience?
No experience is required. We welcome beginners and seasoned performers alike. Our goal is to help every student learn, grow, and have fun throughout the process.
Casting Process:
Callbacks: Some students may be invited to a callback audition for lead or featured roles. This is an additional opportunity for the creative team to see specific skills (acting, singing, or dance).
Lead and featured roles are given to students based on performance, preparation, and fit for the role.
Casting decisions are posted within a few days after auditions.
